Reactive dog care at Jimmy’s Park

Our Philosophy

  • Reactive dogs are good dogs

Reactive dogs deserve the same love and care as non-reactive dogs. We understand the deregulation of emotions and how stressful it can be for both the dog and the owners. We’ve found that our Big Emotion friends end up being our BEST friends.

  • Pro-muzzle

We believe an appropriate muzzle is the gateway to a long, healthy and fulfilling life for all dogs, but that doubles for our reactive friends. The stigma that dogs with a muzzle are bad dogs is lost on us - we are pro-muzzle on all fronts!

  • Consent First

Unwanted petting, loud noises, sudden movements; this all stacks, leading to severe trigger stacking. We work with a consent-based approach on your dog’s terms. We will never force an interaction. Whatever makes your dog happy will make us happy.

  • Bite History? We got you.

Bites can happen, even from the friendliest of dogs. We work with dogs who have a bite history*. We also work closely with your (positive reinforcement) trainer and/or behaviorist to ensure everything is consistent across the board.

Reactive Dog Care Services

  • Enrichment Visits

Dogs of all kinds deserve proper enrichment, even dogs who may exhibit higher levels of anxiety and reactivity. We work closely with your pup to see what works best. Offered in 30 minute and hour long intervals, these sessions include a myriad of fun activities scientifically proven to stimulate the mind, nose, and other needs.

  • Overnight Care

Our overnight care for reactive dogs starts at $175 and can go up to $200 a night. This service grants you an experienced Reactive Dog Specialist to stay at your home and ensure your dog is enriched, walked, fed, medicated, comfortable and safe in their own home.

  • Private Training

Apartment living, city living, neighbors, barrier reactivity, leash reactivity, you name it. Our certified reactive dog trainers are available to help and develop a personalized plan on managing your dog’s reactivity. It’s important to note that we say managing, as reactivity requires management not fixing. If a trainer says they can “fix” reactivity, they’re lying to you.

  • Separation Anxiety Sits

It can be difficult to go to work or date nights with a dog who has separation anxiety. We can hang out with your dog while you’re away for a few hours and make sure they have a buddy to have fun with and feel safe with! Please note a traditional or non-reactive dog specialist may provide these services.
